Kia Sorrento Wins Award for Family-Friendly Attributes

The Sorrento, an increasingly popular CUV that offers first-rate amenities in a value package, has been Kia Motor's best-selling car for 15 months.  Since it first launched in 2003, it has achieved a lot of firsts. Among other things, it's the first vehicle Kia ever made in the U.S. And, it's the first Kia model to sell 10,000 models in a single month and 100,000 units in a year.

Now, in its 11th model year, the Kia Sorrento continues to exceed expectations, commanding the attention of the industry's most stringent critics. Most recently, the 2011 Kia Sorrento has been named to Kiplinger's Personal Finance "Best Cars for Families" list.

According to the editors at Kiplinger's Personal Finance, all vehicles that make the cut for the "Best Cars for Families" list (i.e., the Kia Sorrento) must previously have been named a "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Additionally, each winner must meet the organization's stringent criteria for family-friendly characteristics, including: vehicle size within the segment, cargo space, and the value the vehicle lends families.

Speaking on the award-winning Sorrento Kiplinger's, Michael Sprague, VP Marketing & Communication, Kia Motors America said, "With its stylish design, upscale features, and remarkable safety, the Kia Sorrento represents Kia's commitment to offering stylish and practical vehicles that meet the needs of today's busy commuters at a tremendous value...The Sorrento is a great choice for families, and this accolade from Kiplinger's Personal Finance continues the momentum of our most popular vehicle and is a reflection of the dramatic impact Kia's design-led product transformation has had on the brand."1
